Meet the District Attorney

Doug Evans was elected District Attorney in 1992 and has served in that position since that time.   He has successfully prosecuted hundreds of cases and has received guilty verdicts against defendants charged with Capital Murder, Rape, Armed Robbery, Sale of Drugs, Kidnapping, Arson, House Burglary and numerous other crimes.  Doug Evans has committed his life to serving the citizens of the Fifth Circuit Court District.  Before serving as District Attorney he served as a law enforcement officer for 10 years, a Justice Court Judge for four years and as an Assistant District Attorney.  

Education & Affiliation

He completed his undergraduate studies at Delta State University and received his law degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law.  Evans is a member of the National Association of District Attorneys, the Grenada Bar Association and the Mississippi Bar Association.  He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Prosecutor’s Association.  

Life

Evans is a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.  He and his wife Patsy reside in Grenada.

Ryan Berry

Ryan M. Berry is a native of New Hebron, MS.  He received his B.S. degree from Mississippi State University in 2001 and his J.D. from Mississippi College School of Law in 2006.  He is a member of the Grenada Bar Association, Mississippi Prosecutor’s Association and the Mississippi Bar Association. He has worked as an Assistant District Attorney in the Fifth Circuit Court District since 2007.  ADA Berry prosecutes felony cases in Carroll, Montgomery and Grenada counties. 

Adam Hopper

Adam Hopper graduated from Troy University.  In 2005 he received his J.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law. Before coming to the Office of the District Attorney, he was a Law Clerk to the Honorable Joseph H. Loper, Senior Circuit Judge for the Fifth Circuit Court District. He is a member of the Grenada Bar Association, the Mississippi Prosecutor’s Association and the Mississippi Bar Association.  He has worked as an Assistant District Attorney in the Fifth Circuit Court District since 2006.  ADA Hopper prosecutes felony cases in Attala, Choctaw,  Grenada and Webster counties. 

Jay Howard

Jay Howard graduated from Mississippi State University and from Mississippi College School of Law. Before coming to the Office of the District Attorney, he was a Law Clerk to the Honorable Samac Richardson, Circuit Judge for the Twentieth Circuit Court District.  He is a member of the Mississippi Prosecutor’s Association and the Mississippi Bar Association.  He has worked as an Assistant District Attorney in the Fifth Circuit Court District since 2011.  ADA Howard prosecutes felony cases in Attala, Carroll, Choctaw, Grenada, Montgomery, Webster and Winston counties. 

Mike Howie

Mike Howie graduated from the University of Mississippi and from the University of Mississippi School of Law. Before coming to the Fifth Circuit Court District as an Assistant District Attorney, Mike Howie served this country in the United State Marine Corps.  He is a member of the Grenada Bar Association, Mississippi Prosecutor’s Association and the and Mississippi Bar Association. He has worked as an Assistant District Attorney in the Fifth Circuit Court District since 2006.  ADA Howie prosecutes felony cases in Attala, Choctaw, Webster and Winston counties.

Chet Kirkham

Chet Kirkham graduated from the University of Mississippi in 2001 and from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2005.  He is a member of the Mississippi Prosecutor’s Association and the Mississippi Bar Association. He has worked as a prosecutor since 2005 in the 11th Circuit Court District before coming to the 5th District in July of 2010.  ADA Kirkham prosecutes felony cases in Carroll, Choctaw, Grenada and Montgomery counties.
